Bhavya Rehani, 37, and her husband, Ankur Bharija, also 37, are physicians at the top of their professions but that isn’t what inspires them. Harvard-trained Rehani practices at University of California San Francisco while Bharija is on the faculty at Stanford to the south. She is also the CEO of a nonprofit they founded, Health4TheWorld.
The 100% volunteer-led organization is working to share health information with doctors and patients around the world to improve health outcomes. Everything they offer is entirely free to the doctors, other healthcare professionals and the patients.
The pair is off to a good start. By localizing the tools for a variety of circumstances, the organization has in its first year of operation begun reaching people in 22 countries, touching 3,500 lives.

What is the problem you solve and how do you solve it?
While interest has never been higher, action sports as they currently exist are out of reach to many due to geographic and financial barriers to participation. Concurrently, traditional education continues to exclude education in desired creative fields like music, art, media, and more.
These barriers and exclusions make at-risk youth more susceptible to negative influences and life choices.
DIVERT removes these barriers, making both the athletics and creative lifestyles more accessible to anyone. We DIVERT their attention away from negative influences and towards positive ones that align with the interest of today's youth culture.

It is only a slight exaggeration to say that impact measurement is something of a holy grail for impact investors with an impact first approach. Shaun Conway is building a new blockchain and tokens to be used in measuring and monetizing impact.
There are at least $228 billion of impact investments now under management. Virtually all the investors are looking to measure impact with the same clarity they currently measure financial returns. A variety of helpful tools are already being implemented. Tokenizing impact measurement is a logical and exciting step forward.

A Kickstarter campaign for a commercial version of the nonprofit Because International’s “the shoe that grows” donated by the thousands to kids in the developing world called “Expandels” is growing quickly well past the goal of $10,000.
Kenton Lee, co-founder of GroFive and inventor of the shoe that grows explains that when you buy a pair of Expandels via Kickstarter you can choose to donate a pair to a kid in the developing world who can’t afford to buy one.
The donated shoes are manufactured in Ethiopia to ensure that donated shoes aren’t displacing net jobs in the places that most need them.

When Mari Kuraishi and Dennis Whittle, 57, launched what became GlobalGiving back in the late 1990s, the term “crowdfunding” was not in use—and wouldn’t come into vogue for nearly a decade. These two are clearly on the short list of candidates for those who can credibly make the claim to have invented internet-based crowdfunding.
Today, the term crowdfunding means many things to many people. All those things have in common the idea of gathering funds from many people and most of those meanings include the use of the internet as a central feature. GlobalGiving gathers donations for international nonprofits.
According to Kuraishi, who married Whittle while both were working at the World Bank, before leaving together to launch the site, “GlobalGiving has delivered $332 million to nearly 20,000 projects in 170 countries supporting community-led projects since 2002. We've also helped 780,000 donors find vetted nonprofits.”

  • Learn Why the LGBTQ Needed And Now Has Its Own Crowdfunding Platform - PridePocket - #666

Rachel Blank and her wife saw a need for the LGBTQ community to have its own crowdfunding platform so they created PridePocket.
If you aren’t a member of the community, you may not understand why this is necessary. With many trans-related medical treatments and procedures treated by health insurance companies as elective, they are frequently not covered. The LGBTQ+ community can come together to help shoulder these costs.

Last December, I reported here that NPX, Inc., had developed a new concept for financing nonprofits called an “impact security.” In May, the nonprofit The Last Mile closed on $800,000 of financing using the new instrument.
    How it works:
According to Princeton educated Catarina Schwab, 43, NPX’s co-founder, “The Impact Security allows a nonprofit to issue performance-based debt to investors and make required payments on the debt over time with donations from the established donor fund.”
The funds came from a group of investors who hope to get their money back with interest. Having an impact priority in mind, they don’t have an interest in financial outcomes. Instead, they want their return to be entirely dependent on achieving a measurable outcome.

One of the groups facing the highest unemployment rate in the United States is those who are formerly incarcerated. Richard Bronson, who served two years in prison for securities violations in the 90s, has launched a venture he calls 70 Million Jobs.
You see, there are about 70 million formerly incarcerated Americans. That represents about one in every three adults. Richard sees this not only as a problem but as an opportunity. He launched his for-profit enterprise to act as a placement agent for this marginalized population.
Now, Richard is raising money for the venture on equity crowdfunding site Wefunder using Title III of the 2012 JOBS Act. Virtually anyone can invest.

Jaclyn “Jacque” Zoccoli started her career in the Peace Corps. That experience has shaped her life and career ever since, giving her a desire to always have an impact for good in the world. She works today to connect people to all those who can help them.
Interview with Jaclyn "Jacque" Zoccoli, the Global Collaborator of Network Builders Arizona.
What is the problem you solve and how do you solve it?
The problem solved is the lack of resources, (thus impact of groups), because they do not partner with others going the same direction. Through the building of alliances, and teams of them, there is an increase in commerce and growth. This eventually builds more love, prosperity and peace worldwide, the total solution.
