This song was originally written and recorded back in 2011 (first draft on june 17th 2011) when i was hitting rock bottom.
One of my favourite tracks but i never liked the mix.
I tried to either remix r re-record it several times over the years but to no avail.
But after the experience with recording and mixing "Roam", i re-recorded everything since october 21st 2023.
The only thing left from the original recording is the arrangement and the drum track which serves as a lower mixed double to the newly recorded drum track.
I also added a second synth and two new guitar parts.
It's also one of the very few songs i used extensive cutting and editing.
Most of the time - because i'm lazy and just love to play - i record while playing anologue instruments live all the way through with some minor fixes here and there but this time i couldn't do it properly; too many dynamic inconsitencies and wrong notes.

Einen Tag nachdem ich "Roam" für die Veröffentlichung freigegeben hatte, habe ich zum runterkommen bisschen mit den CherryAudio VST Synths herumgespielt und plötzlich tönte es so aus meinen Kopfhörern
Bass ist DCO-106, die restlichen Synthsounds sind Elka-X
Drums sind Addictive Drums 2 ReelMachines

December 13, 2022 "Elka Test 1" Demo (22_08_22)
"Elka Test 1" Demo (it's just a working title)
the track started just as a playground for the newly aquiered Elka-X Vst from CherryAudio but the bass i created coincidentially sounded too good to be wasted but i didn't have any immediate idea what to do with it apart from a 16 bar loop with some drums and the lead so i shelved it.
then i rediscovered it while listenig to all the demos i made during the past 1.5 years and immediately felt the urge to expand the loop
at first i thought i could just let it run for 3 minutes or so but there was still space to fill
so i quickly added the arp, the pad and the second lead synth and some hihats and claps and arranged and mixed it a bit.
except for the arp synth which is a DCO-106 and which comes in with the hihats, every synth sound is from the Elka-X.

Da es eines meiner Lieblingslieder ist, wollte ich es schon lange einaml covern.
Schlagzeug habe ich mit einem Keyboard gespielt; zuerst Snare und Bassdrum, dann die Hats und am Schluss die Crashes.

Bass guitar (directly recorded into the Octatrack and then sliced and resampled)
Vocals from a conversation between Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) from the Star Trek TNG episode "Q Who"
Drums and Synths were recorded from the Monomachine into the Octatrack for better handling...
