South Auckland health services provider, Turuki Health Care has scooped top honours at the NZ Primary Healthcare Awards winning the Boehringer Ingelheim Practice nurse of the year award.

Awarded to Fakaanga Mapa (Ngāti Tonga), he was recognised for his exemplary work as a practice nurse where he has made an outstanding individual contribution to whānau care at Turuki Health Care Panmure practice. Fakaanga has displayed imagination, leadership, collaboration and innovation to address practice and whānau-level issues.

Turuki Healthcare CEO Te Puea Winiata says "It was a proud moment for Turuki when we heard that Fakaanga had been selected as a finalist, but to go on and win the award was an amazing moment for him and his whānau”
