Welcome to today’s podcast, organized by Research Initiatives Bangladesh (RIB) with the support of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Germany. RIB has long been working on social justice, climate change, agro-ecology, gender justice, and the rights of marginalized communities in Bangladesh.Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to climate change, which disproportionately affects marginalized groups—especially women and gender-diverse communities—deepening existing inequalities. In this context, RIB’s project “Advancing Transitional Justice in Bangladesh (2025)” seeks to raise awareness about the interlinkages between climate justice and gender-based injustice. In this podcast, we explore the relationship between climate justice and gender justice, focusing on the roles of women, youth, and gender-diverse communities, the visibility of their voices in global platforms, and Bangladesh’s demands in the context of COP30. Through a justice-based lens, the discussion highlights climate-induced inequalities as a global issue, with insights shared by youth representatives from Bangladesh.Today, we are joined by two inspiring guests Farzana Faruk Jhumu and Fariha Sultana Aumi, who have been actively working in the fields of gender justice and climate justice. In this episode, we will hear their experiences, perspectives, and visions for the future.
