Back in the day, we chose not to write anything very meaningful for this podcast. Let's hope for a return to form on the season finale (podcast-wise) and get to the podcast.

If you could come back as a vision, would you appear in a shit cloud? Do you think rabbit nuggets taste like chicken? Does Billie work with Jordan the Saddest Comic at all or should she be with Ryan (or with no one and just kicking ass like she already is)?

Paul and Mike tackle the hard questions on this week's episode of The Avenue 5 Podcast where they discuss Episode 7, “Are You A Spider, Matt?”

  • Schitt's Creek Season 6 Episode 9
    Pop TV

Enter our Schitt’s Creek Rose Apothecary Giveaway … make sure you listen through the whole episode for the rules and to spot the Word (or Phrase) of the Week!

This week on “Without a Paddle, the Schitt’s Creek Podcast” from Pod Clubhouse, Caroline and Mike are talking about Episode 609, “Rebound”!

This week, Alexis "Lexie" Rose dealt with her break-up with Ted by dating a much older man. Is Artie just what Alexis needs to help heal her heart? Is there a good process to follow after a break-up? Is Johnny being a good dad when he interferes in her relationship? Or did he overstep his bounds?

Meanwhile, following an interview where Moira put down the (unnamed) town where she lives, the Rose's car is the victim of an egging. Were as you disappointed as we were that Moira is still talking trash about Schitt's Creek? Did her tourism video make up for it?

Last, Jocelyn takes a whirl at being the newest employee of Rose Apothecary. And while she's a natural saleswoman, she decides the store isn't a good fit for "her brand." Were you as sad as Patrick that she turned their job offer down or did you agree with David that it wouldn't have been a good mix? Either way, "Have a Rosy Day!"

Caroline and Mike break down the episode and tackles all of these questions on this week’s episode!

  • Westworld Episode 106
This is our post from almost 4 years ago:
Blame election week hysteria or whatever you want. We're massively late, but here we go, with at least a full day before the next episode.
No long write up this time. Let's just get to it!

  • Westworld Episode 104
Although this episode maintained the high aesthetic standards of the ones preceding it, I have trouble summing up what this one was "about". We caught several of our main characters in the middle of their respective narratives and, except for Maeve, no one had a single episode character arc. People compare this show to LOST and in a lot of ways, I agree with that comparison. One thing that LOST excelled at was it let you know whose story was being covered in a given episode. So far, Westworld is casting a large net every episode when it comes to POV characters, allowing the story to advance through many different points of view. This is fine, but sometimes you end up with episodes like this one. Episodes like this where we find out a couple of tidbits we've been wanting to know and basically serve to position characters where they need to be later on in the season. You can practically feel the writers' hand moving William and Delores' party to smack into the Man In Black's party at some pivotal time and place, can't you?
    Here's what we found out:

    * The Man In Black is most likely not a host gone wild. He's probably a very wealthy person in the real world.
    * Clues for the maze may be more figurative than literal.
    * Maeve has been having flashbacks for a while now (there were many drawings in there), but it looks like now she's got an idea on how Memento her way to... freedom?
    * Hosts don't reset at night if they are with newcomers
    * In lesser news, Wyatt's men didn't chop Teddy to bits. They just strung him up, with stab wounds all over his body, in the desert. That's probably worse.

Here's where we are with individual characters:

    * Delores: On a bounty hunt mission with William. Bernie has given her the notion she can be free if she completes the maze.
    * Bernie: Still running secret meetings with Delores. Spilled beans about the maze to her. Helped prep Cullen for a hacienda sit-down with Ford while wearing only underwear.
    * William: Protective of Delores and starting to get into the Westworld groove. May be tempted to play black-hat next week.
    * Ford: Will not be stopped by Cullen, the Board, or anyone else! To do what? No one knows!

  • Westworld Season 1 Episode 3
One unexpected brain-dump of Westworld mythology later and now we have Arnold. With him comes tons of new questions like:

    * Is the Man In Black somehow related to Arnold?
    * Is Arnold a first name or a last name?
    * Is Arnold like a ghost in the machine presence in Westworld?
    * Did Ford tell the whole truth about Arnold?

Immediately, I'm reminded of Jacob from LOST. For a looong time, Jacob existed only in the shadows, speaking through others (sound familiar?). We had to watch all the way to just about the end of the final season before we got the entire backstory on the guy. It's unknown with only 3 episodes in the can whether or not Westworld is a show that condones entire-show flashbacks or not, so we may never get a filmed version of "This Is What Arnold Did". I hope we DO get some corroborated info from some other sources on Arnold though. Ford seems like the kind of guy that takes Obi-wan Kenobi's "truth from a certain point of view," from Return of the Jedi and RUNS with it. Honesty, but not the whole story.

Quick recap of where the main characters wound up:

    * Bernie: Bad day at work, found out about Arnold, and decided NOT to reset Delores' programming. Also, has a dead son. Sad.
    * Delores: Starting to overcome programming limitations, but it's having a bad effect on her mind. She winds up in William and Logan's camp. Being able to pull that trigger, no matter where you think the gun came from, was pretty huge.
    * Teddy: All the sudden, he's got a nemesis: Wyatt. Too bad Wyatt and his been don't seem to be affected by bullets.
    * Ford: His agenda became muddied for me this week. Last week I thought he was trying to expand the hosts beyond their programming through reveries and possibly introducing religion. This week he demonstrated is ardent belief that hosts are machines capable of nothing more than their programming allows. At least we have his Arnold story to noodle on this week.
    * William: Got into the swing of things and killed a host! Hooray for robo-cide!

We try and dig into the bicameral mind stuff and other questions this week, so have a listen!

  • Westworld Season 1 Episode 2
In episodes to come, we will look back at this one and say, "That's the one everything was put into motion," I bet. Although whatever Ford intends to happen must have required some steps having been taken prior to our introduction to him last week, this is when those plans are starting to bear fruit. This is when the good stuff starts. We talk about said good stuff including:

    * Newcomers William and Logan - what's their possible relationship and whether Logan is a psycho back in the real world or not
    * All the HQ staffers including Bernie and Cullen's lustful urges and Sizemore's comeuppance
    * Maeve - her tumultuous life path from prairie massacre survivor to whorehouse madame, to robot revolutionary
    * The Man in Black and his gunfire-laden path to winning friends and influencing teenage robots
    * Ford - or robot-god (robo-god?) and what he might be up to

  • The Original
    What an episode, right?

We have this show which has all the trimmings for Hollywood success:

    * It's a reboot of a 1973 sci-fi classic written and directed by Michael Crichton.
    * It's got BIG stars. KNIGHTED stars. Even CYCLOPS.
    * It's got classic, Frankenstein inspired themes combined with just-out-of-our-reach tech.
    * It's got Jonathan Nolan, the guy that wrote Interstellar, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Prestige in charge of the whole thing (with his wife, Lisa Joy Nolan).

AND it all seems to actually WORK for once! This show has that carefully polished sheen you'd expect from HBO these days, but it goes further than meeting expectations set by watching Game of Thrones. You get the sense that although we may be at the beginning of our adventure with Bernie and Delores, we're actually very late to the party. Things have been happening in Westworld for a while, but now they're getting interesting. Dropping us into the story like this gives us the natural desire to see the story move forward every week, but we're also going to want to know a lot backstory. I love stories like this.
What we think here at Daley Review:

    * Dr. Ford is up to something. His final say over the software updates being pushed to the hosts gives him a vehicle for mischief.
    * Delores may know may than she lets on and just plays her part in order to stay out of trouble.
    * It's probably against policy to kiss robots.
    * The imagery and concept behind the repeated showing of player pianos was very nice. We explain more about why we thought it was nice in the podcast [hint, hint].

We can't wait for the next one. We'll try and finish up the Stranger Things episodes as time permits. Just hang in there with us.

  • This Is Us Season 4 Episode 15

THIS IS US -- "Clouds" Episode 415 -- Pictured: (l-r) Mandy Moore as Rebecca, Milo Ventimiglia as Jack -- (Photo by: Ron Batzdorff/NBC)
This week's episode, This Is Us - Season 4 Episode 15, entitled "Clouds" offered a pretty balanced look into the lives of the living Pearsons. Post-cabin meet-up, the Big 3 get back to their lives, trying to use the positive energy (if any) gained from their time spent together. With every passing week in which the show dances around the issue, the biggest question of the week continues to be: What will cause the giant rift among the siblings?

Caroline and Paul found this episode super enjoyable, but many questions rose up post-show, such as:

    * Should Kevin and Madison give it a shot? I know this was also one of last week's questions, but it's still very relevant.
    * Is Toby's change of heart for real? We want to believe in him, but what he-said, Kate can't un-hear.
    * Should Randall have found another therapist? I mean, for real.

Listen in to hear what they have to say about theses and MANY more questions!
