For this season of Run the Gamut, we've got a few grimy, head bopping hip hop albums. Of course the diamond dice, in their infinite wisdom, have rolled one of the most unconventional boom bap records on this list. The experimental, concept story of Clipping's "Splendor and Misery" is a heavy one, but there's work to do before we get to that.
In this Introductory episode, your PLAHBoys go through their history of Hip Hop music. It's a fun L-train ride through the sights and sounds of hip hop in the 90s and 00's. Your hosts don't stray too far, as we wrap this up with the history of the group Clipping. We talk Daveed Diggs, Hamilton and Snipes & Hutson and the career of this strange Industrial/Hip Hop project. We'll follow this one up with a track by track analysis of "Splendor and Misery" next week. As always, enjoy the talk and let us know your hip hop history.
