On the eve of what would have been his 101st birthday, Jason and Brian celebrate the legendary career of comics legend, Jack "King" Kirby. Kirby left a gigantic mark on pop culture and we're both better human beings for exposure to his incredible storytelling. We discuss our gateway entry into Kirby, what made us fans, his unique and beautiful comic style, his influences on the genre and some of his weirder creations. Along the way we talk discuss Dragnet, Flash Gordon, LSD trips in movie theatres, treasury editions, learning to read, Jimmy Olsen buying prophylactics,  Star Trek: The Motion Picture, action figures, Planet of the Apes, Destroyer Duck,  Thundarr, Goldie Gold and Action Jack, Kenner Super Powers and terrible 70s comic book jive talk. Hell hath frozen over, we're doing the Dune show. Long joked about as a "never gonna happen", the Dune show became our #1 listener requested episode and well, give the folks some spice! We've brought in our pal and uber fan David Weiner of the awesome It came from Blog to join us and discuss not only the film but the book series.  David and Jason carefully explain why they love the film to Brian, who isn't quite taking the spice if you know what i mean. Along the way we talk about the director, the cast, the upcoming remake, the TV mini-series, Saturn 3, the horribly misguided attempt to sell Dune products to children and Yor the Hunter from the Future frisbees (seriously). It's actually one of our best shows ever, who'da thunk it? The last PodStallions we did was so much fun, we rushed back to do another, look at us being proactive! This week’s show is all about conventions and toy shows. We explore our humble first conventions (which were mind blowing to us then) and eventually get all the way to modern tales of San Diego comic con. Along the way we talk about celebrity encounters, being a dealer, terrible conventions, John Colicos, Colin Baker, Jon Pertwee, spending all our money, getting drunk and renting adult videos? How did we even? Nevermind. We're back with an all-new show, this one is a little different, more of a "Free-form jazz" sort of thing as we just go back and forth talking about action figure collecting, the madness we both share. Discussion includes our favorite lines and styles of plastic people, our various collecting rituals and of course, our top three "must have" action figure lines. On Topic Conversations include Mego, Hot Toys, Bif Bang Pow!, Kenner, Funko, Super 7, Hasbro, Star Wars POTF,  exclusives, customs, Mattel Flash Gordon, GI Joe, the Waltons and Wizard of Oz. Sidetrack conversations abound in this one and we get into Richard Lynch, Maverick, Jellyfish, Target, Barney Miller, Planet of the Apes, Kenny Everet, toy guns, toy shows, Solo: A Star Wars story, meditation and weird things we did as kids. We return once again with an all new Pod Stallions and in celebration of the Man of Steel's 80th birthday we thought we'd make him our topic (We haven't done this one right? Cause it feels real familiar). So we dig right in and talk about George Reeves, Filmation, the Super Friends, Dean Cain, Superboy, Mego figures and we finish along the way with what we think of the current incarnation of the Man of Steel. Sidetrack conversations include Records, Michael J Pollard sightings, the Martian Chronicles, another "Brian was a dumb kid" story, local tv celebrities, Spawn and a whole long diatribe about Condor Man.  Can you read our mind? Listen along and tell us! What's your favourite Superman incarnation?  give us spirited debate on our facebook wall.   Download the Show Here Listen here Plenty more content on the PodStallions Facebook page! We're back with a look at a much maligned (and let's face it, it's not great) chunk of our childhood, the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. Look, we're not going to take such low hanging fruit, the truth is, it's not any worse than most of what was called "entertainment" in 1978. In fact, it's kind of status quo, so forgive it, love and like us, talk about what we do enjoy. We both seriously want action figures of those cartoon characters and if you're listening, so do you. As always, the conversation strays to the Ice Pirates, action figures, style guides, Brian's parents taking him to inappropriate movies and a spirited debate about the amazing effects of nostalgia. Also, Brian wants to apologize for what he said about the Goonies, please don't kill him. He has kids.  So happy life day and  give us spirited debate on our facebook wall.   Download the Show Here Listen here Plenty more content on the PodStallions Facebook page! Ok, this isn't much of Mini as it runs over an hour (Boy, we can talk!) but it is a fun show nonetheless. For this "Mini" Jason proposed the challenge that we talk about our "top five" Christmas presents as kids. That's a hard thing to pick but we managed. Topics include Kenner Star Wars (duh), Mego Superheroes, Hot Wheels, more Kenner Star Wars (we are Gen X after all) Six Million Dollar man, Tony Rosato, failed 80s sitcoms, calling your mom at work, Florida in the 1970s, Brian's weird childhood,  the Fisher Price Adventure People, Star Team, Starroids, Indiana Jones and did we mention Kenner Star Wars?   Download the Show Here Listen here Give us some love on the PodStallions Facebook page!
