Rowan Sanderson sits down with Kiran Krishan to discuss his advocacy to rescue and rehabilitate pets on a massive scale, with a particular focus on finding new ways to improve dogs’ microbial ecology in order to prevent leaky gut.

Kiran talks about his research which undeniably verifies leaky gut as a condition in dogs. In addition, he goes into how leaky gut impacts their conditions or diseases. He singles out microbial ecology as the biggest factor in determining gut health.

It’s not what you eat, but how what you eat is absorbed. Kiran discusses the differences between bad bacteria and good bacteria, the latter being known as “universal colonizers”. He then cites examples of known keystone strains, as well as those that he is currently uncovering via ongoing research.
