Craig Pocock is a Landscape Architect and Director of Design Environment. He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects. Craig is passionate about raising the bar of professionals to understand the carbon load of their designs. Cities are large carbon creators – due in the main to carbon insensitive designs by professionals. Who then 10 years later redesign and replace the existing award winning design. We create double the carbon load for the same space. Something is terribly wrong. In addition the public are forced to maintain and use what we design, this again adds to the carbon load. Listen to his great story about reaching out to professionals to create carbon neutral cities. He gives the details of why everything that is green is not necessarily a carbon sink. His story is about opportunity and hope. How this generation of professions can create a change needed in cities to save the planet from its carbon overload. Craig is a leader and tells his story with insight and passion. Enjoy.
