Fact: The Corinthian Church was full of spiritually immature Christians. They were dominated by their human nature. Romans 7:1-6

Paul preached a simple message. He shared God’s sacred secrets with the Corinthian Church.
Paul preached Jesus’ redemptive, substitutionary death and His resurrection to the Corinthian Church. He did not use the wisdom or rhetoric of the Jewish or Greek culture.
Paul shared the Gospel which he knew was the power of God. (Romans 1:16) The Holy Spirit powerfully moved Paul to preach the Gospel and gave the listeners a heart and mind to believe by faith the message preached. Ephesians 2:8,9
Paul was clear – it is not the wisdom of man which saves but it is the Christ-centered Gospel which brings about faith in an individual. Those who are spiritually maturing in their faith have access to the sacred secrets of God. God is the revealer of His secrets.
The ancient wisdom of God is and always will be hidden from the unrighteous until it is revealed by God to those who by faith believe. The insanity of sin blinded unbeliever’s who crucified the Lord of glory. Isaiah 64:4
The Holy Spirit is the teacher of the redeemed. God’s wisdom motivates Christians into deeper states of maturity.
The natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the teachings and revelations of the Holy Spirit. The wisdom of God is absurd and illogical to the unbeliever. Unbelievers are incapable of understanding God’s wisdom because it must be spiritually discerned and they are unqualified to judge spiritual matters.
The spiritually mature Christian questions, examines and applies what the Holy Spirit reveals to him. The unbeliever cannot judge and understand the believer’s spiritual nature. Believers have the mind of Christ. Isaiah 40:13

Like the Apostle Paul we have our clarion call; preach the Gospel.
Paul was a very educated man with a certain pedigree, yet he preached the power and wisdom of God to the common man in common language.
Paul understood that in every audience there were two types of people. There were those people who were perishing from unbelief and there were those who were being saved by the power of God because they believed.
Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, understood that the preaching of the cross was foolishness to those who would not believe. Afterall, he was one of them when his name was Saul.
God foretold through the Prophet Isaiah that He would destroy worldly wisdom that leads to unbelief. We must listen, obey, and trust the truth from God. Isaiah 29:13-16
God’s power is and God’s wisdom is superior to mans. God is smarter than you.
The Church is God’s chosen ones. He has called us to preach the Gospel.
God’s toolchest is full of common instruments.
God has chosen to show His strength in the Christians weakness.
God’s people must live lives of humility knowing Christ is their fullness. In and of themselves, Believer’s have nothing to brag about.
God’s determined gift is that all Believer’s are in Christ Jesus.
Jesus revealed God’s plan of salvation.
Jesus makes us acceptable to God.
Jesus makes us holy and sets us apart for God.
Jesus provides our ransom from the penalty for sin.
Paul and the Prophet Jeremiah quote the LORD when they exhort us to brag on the LORD! Go King Jesus! Jeremiah 9:23-24

Paul greeted the Church in Corinth with Apostolic grace and authority. He was a God-appointed special messenger, personally chosen representative of Jesus Christ. Acts 9:3–9; 22:6–11; 26:12–18
Paul acknowledged the work of the Holy Spirit in the Corinthian Church and the spiritual gifts God had blessed them with. 1 Corinthians 12
Paul commended the Corinthian Church for their spiritual knowledge and their Christian testimony.
The Corinthian Church was established in Jesus Christ so much so, they were looking forward to His return.
Paul declared to the Church that God is forever faithful, impeccably reliable, unswervingly trustworthy, and eternally true to His promise – He can be depended on. Malachi 3:6; James 1:17
Paul affirmed the call of the Corinthian Church into fellowship with Jesus Christ our Lord. It was evident, they belong to the family of God.
All things in the Corinthian Church were not good. Paul plead with the Church in the name of Jesus to be unified in all things.
Division by definition is the process of being separated. Paul called the Church to be of the same mind and of the same judgment. W.W.J.D.?
Disputes concerning Christian brothers and sisters were and are divisive. It is okay to disagree but disagree without being disagreeable.
Each person in the Corinthian Church had their favorite religious leader. They erred due to their personal opinions instead of having the mind of Christ.
Division in the Corinthian Church focused on personal likes.
Paul did not speak against liking certain speakers, he spoke against dividing the Church. He wanted them united around Christ Jesus.

Jesus spoke clearly to the people and His disciples near Caesarea Philippi about the costly conditions of being His disciple. This area was a stronghold for idol worship. Many false religions and cults called this area home.
Previous to this teaching, Jesus fed 4000 people and healed a blind man in the city of Bethsaida. His teachings and miracles led to a crisis of belief for those who wished to be His disciples.
Jesus declared a broad call for whoever desired to be His disciple. The call still echoes today. Three surrenders must take place in an individual’s life in order to be a disciple of Jesus:
1. A disciple of Jesus must deny self and set aside selfish desires.
Jesus was clear, whoever wishes to save his life in this world will eventually lose it through natural death and eternal separation from God.
Jesus asked two pointed questions:
Jesus made a Kingdom announcement! “Whoever is ashamed here and now of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
Are you a faithful disciple of Jesus? Will you follow Him all the days of your earthly life?

God has a clear message for the world. (John 3:14-21: John 14:6; Romans 6:23)
God has assigned messengers who are required to share His message with the world. (Romans 10:5-17)
As it relates to God, the world’s wisdom/philosophy is evil and lacks understanding. Systems of unbelief are driven by wicked and confounded men.
Through His messenger Paul, God asked four direct questions:
God has zero tolerance with willful spiritual ignorance. Romans 1:14-32
Although the world’s wise see preaching the Gospel of salvation in Christ alone as foolishness, this is how God revealed His wisdom. Isaiah 55:8,9
The unbelieving scholar seeks after extraordinary and astonishing happenings so they can see whether it is of a divine power or nature.
The unbelieving philosopher seeks after more and more earthly knowledge but rejects the truth of Holy Scriptures. Acts 17:16-34
Faithful followers of Jesus preach the truth of Christ crucified, dead, buried, and resurrected.
The message of Christ is offensive and is seen as foolishness to those who will not believe.
To those who are called by God from all walks of life, the message of Christ is the power of God and it is the wisdom of God. Romans 1:16
God created man. He is the potter and man is the clay. God’s wisdom is superior to man’s wisdom! Isaiah 64:8
God is the Life Giver. His power is intensity, infinitely, immeasurably greater than man’s power! Genesis 1:1; John 1:1

1. It is not a sin to be wealthy. Wealth is not offensive to God; all things belong to Him. When wealth becomes an idol, it also becomes a downfall.
