The Jubilee celebration was a declaration of liberty every 50th year in Israel. Sadly, there is no record in the Bible of this celebration being observed. In a sense, we celebrate a yearly jubilee of America every July 4. In a much greater way than the OT or our national anniversary of freedom, the Lord Jesus has granted us liberty from our sins forever!

When someone is in darkness, light brings vision and hope. Jesus’ ministry was a “great light” in a very dark place. Not only from a spiritual standpoint, but the actual region into which Jesus carried out most of his public ministry, was known for great darkness.
