Texas-born and Louisiana-raised pianist, songwriter and vocalist Marcia Ball -- the official 2018 Texas State Musician -- is celebrating her 50th year as a professional musician with her new album, "Shine Bright," and a free performance as part of the Outside at the Research Park concert series, 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 2, in Champaign.
