We are slaves to the law, but Christ adopts us and brings us into the family as sons. The law brings us low so that Christ may raise us up.

God's law and his promises are not contradictory. They work together while serving different roles in God's plan. Both are ultimately fulfilled in Christ.

Trying to be justified by the law leads to a curse. The law cannot make us good; it can only shows us that we are not. Righteousness only comes by faith in Jesus who bear our curse for us.

The Galatians had forgotten they received the Spirit by faith, not works. We too forget the gospel and must be reminded daily that we cannot make ourselves righteous — only Jesus can.

If we could keep the law, there would be no reason for the gospel. While we often try, we are unable because the law is not meant to save, but show to us that we need saving.

Like Peter, we are prone to give into fear and distort the gospel. We need good friends like Paul to call us out and remind us to fear God more than man.

When we add something to the gospel—including religion—we actually make it worse. Christ's gospel is perfect as is. It requires no additions.
