* Jim Collins said the highest pinnacle of leadership is when a person arrives at the intersection of Professional Will and Personal Humility.
* Very few people can get to this place - it’s a delicate balance.
* One seeks for the front seat and the other seeks for the back seat.
* As believers, we have an advantage because of the Holy Spirit.
* We are “kings and priests” at the level of identity (Revelation 1:6).
* As king we take dominion, rule, authority, and walk in power.
* As priest we show mercy, grace, and honor.
* Vs 33-36 - when the disciples argued about who was the greatest, they were only operating at one level (the king - Professional Will).
* So He brought out a kid to show who they should be like.
* In the Aramaic language, “child” and “servant” were the same thing (Wiersbe).
* The greatest leaders, Jesus shows them, were servants.
* They don’t forfeit their positions of influence and authority - they simply walk in those positions humbly as servants.
* Humility has four components (adapted from Wiersbe):
* 1) Knowing Yourself - spend time with God - He’ll show you who you are.
* 2) Accepting Yourself - the best way to say “thank you” is to accept the gift given.
* 3) Being Yourself - don’t try to be someone else.
* 4) Giving Yourself - you weren’t put on the earth for yourself, but for others.
* EX: David in the Bible - he was a king with a heart of a priest.
* The key is to let the priest lead!
