Guilt tells us we did something wrong but shame says we are wrong. Shame tells us we we don't just have brokenness but we are broken. How do we leave the culture of shame and enter love and the honor God extends to us?

You have emotions and they are telling you things. They are data and not directions as Dr. Susan David says but we need to know what to do with that data. So let's look at fear.

The very idea of the incarnation, of the divine residing in the human Jesus, breaks down the barriers of “clean and unclean.” The assumption was that if the unclean touched the clean the clean would then become unclean. Jesus embodies the reverse. He touches the unclean and makes it clean, healed, forgiven. Then he tells those of us that receive that touch to extend it to others.

When we come out of a desert season and move toward the promise land we often think of how great it will be and forget that it's occupied territory. The desert might even feel safer when we look at the giants of the land and the walls in our way. God delivers us from Egypt. God then tests us in the desert. But when we come to the promise land God wants to do something new... partner with us.

We look out over the vast emptiness of the desert and God asks us if there can be life again. We answer, "Only you know God." Then The river of God comes to flow to us and from us. Ezekiel 37, 47, Luke 4, John 7, John 20, Rev 20

Jesus is led into the desert to be tempted. This is his season of preparation, of being emptied, of engaging with the suffering that will allow him to be filled by the Spirit. Why is this the pattern? Why does ascending always include descending? We look at the season of the desert and how it can surface our false desires and needs to starve the ego so we can be filled with the Divine.

You know where you are. That's "Here." But we don't really know where "There" is. It's a vague sense of goals and hopes. So how do we get there? How does it start and how does it work? Why does calling often feel like crisis as we are asked to leave what we know and what is expected from us?
