Welcome to the first instalment in the Baz v The Masters of Horror Series on The Podcast Under the Stairs!! This series exists solely to allow The Baz to build on his already formable horror education by viewing movies crafted by the Masters...of horror that is!!

Duncan has a massive archive of movies all ready for The Baz to experience and this third episode is no slouch as The Baz will face off against the entire Clive Barker directorial catalogue of movies.

Welcome to the next instalment of our sub-set of show exclusively looking at the Italian Collection releases of 88 Films.

88 Films have, for the last 2 years or so, have been on a tear releasing a torrent of Italian genre classics in high definition. I have been purchasing them and it should be no surprise to anyone, I have left them pretty much unwatched (what can I say...I'm a compulsive collector).

In order to watch the movies I buy, and of course create some quality content for you all Under the Stairs, I will be running through each of the movies on this bonus series between 1-2 movies a month depending on the TPUTS schedule.

So strap yourself in for a rollercoaster ride of alleged plagiarism, zombies, gore, rape, genital mutilation, sexism, revenge, gialli, cops and robbers, cannibalism, sci fi & more bush and titties than an annual subscription to Penthouse magazine.

Disc 7 in the 88 Films Italian Collection is a Video Nasty title that shocked the censors with its blood lust, scenes of cannibalism and of course the devouring of a fetus which is pulled from its still alive mother....that's right folks....its time to get down and dirty with Joe D'Amato's Anthropophagus (1980).

The grading follows the Netflix rating style of 1 = Hated It, 2 = Didn’t Like It, 3 = Liked It, 4 = Really Liked It & 5 = Loved It

Anthropophagus:

Duncan: 3.5

Up next on the Italian Collection Series is Disc 8 - Hitch-Hike (1977).

Disc 6 in the 88 Films Italian Collection is a giallo which really swings for the fences in not only competing for the title of most violent gialli but also a movie which goes out its way to buck many of the genre main stay trends while holding reverence to the overall spirit of the genre. Thats right folks it's A Blade in the Dark (1982) by Laberto Bava.
