Kamohelo Mahlatsi’s Artist Bio
Born 08 August 2000, Kamohelo Mahlatsi is a self-taught photographer/visual artist from the township of Katlehong, South Africa and has been photographing since 2016. At the forefront of Kamohelo’s art practice is aestheticism and counter-stereotypic imagery with a larger body of work titled ''The
Envisioned Self'' which aims to aestheticize stereotypical black features through creating a powerful and positive visual representation of individuals with these features. In October of 2019 Kamohelo won first place at the Excellence In Education awards by ThinkAhead for the #mySA Photography category and has since been interviewed by some of South Africa's esteemed media outlets such as SABC 2’s Morning Live, Germiston City News, CAPS Radio and Good Things Guy.
