In part 1 of this episode, we hosted podcast guest Tony Kitchens. Tony is an Author, Entrepreneur and a Philanthropist. He shared with us how to shift our perspective on fear and pain to allow us live the lives we have always envisioned.

Tony shares a personal life experience of how he lost his huge Technology Company that employed over 100 workers in 2019. This is a company he started when he was 19 years old going on 20. He had grown this company for over 29 years and the company made over 1 million dollars in revenue every month. 2018 was one of their best years in business. The company made over 20 million dollars in revenue that year and he lost all of this the fall of 2019 just before the global pandemic (COVID).

In the light of this, he is saying if he is given 50 million dollars to go back to his old affluent life, he will reject it. Do you want to know why?

In this Episode we hosted Ptr. GeorgeHodges. He shared personal storiesof triumph. At age 4, he was sexually molested by his uncle. Fear of the unknown kept him quiet for over 30 years before he ever told anyone about it. Along with that, he was raised in an abusive home. He witnessed his father physically beat up his mother for years. He was more verbally and mentally abusive to him and his brother. By the age of nine he began drinking as a coping mechanism to deal with the trauma.

Battled with depression in silence. Contemplated suicide but was afraid to do it. He began affiliating with the local gang members, this led to dropping out of school and getting involved in the street life. He eventually got arrested and was sent to prison for a crime he said he did not commit by the age of 23. He was charged with murder. While incarcerated he cried out to God and became a Christian. During his 5 ½ years of incarceration he obtained his GED. The Lord led him to begin teaching Bible Studies on the yard. God started using him to help other prisoners and even some of the staff. Before he was released God called him to preach. He preached his 1st sermon in prison. Upon his release he joined a local church, got ordained and certified. He went to college and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, began pastoring a church in 2014, went back to school that year and obtained a Master of Divinity degree. Earlier this year, he resigned from the church he was pastoring and began his own ministry. He wrote a book that is about to be released this summer, started his own catering company. He is also do motivational speaker and life coach. His goal is to tell the world that you can bounce back from virtually anything.

PODCAST GUEST: CHAD HARPER (Aka. Brooklyn Globetrotter)

Chad Harper, better known by stage name, The Brooklyn Globetrotter, is an American Educator, Humanitarian, Businessman, Rapper, and Songwriter. Harper was born in Cleveland, Ohio but has been a resident of Brooklyn, New York for over twenty years. He has worked with Hip Hop pioneers such as Kool Herc, Marley Marl, and Melle Mel; as well as Hip Hop acts such as Mister Cheeks, Brand Nubian, Keith Murry, Smifn Wesson and more.

Harper credits his mother, who was a life-long teacher, with being an inspiration for his music career. After watching the movie Beat Street, Harper was driven to participate in the culture of hip hop through the art of breakdancing. He attended Morehouse College for Business education.

At Morehouse College, Harper initially started out in the entertainment industry as a model which also led to an acting career. Harper appeared in several commercials including a Reebok Back To School commercial. He became more active in the recording industry. Perfecting his craft, he recorded three EP's that went unreleased. In between his recording career, Harper volunteered for the company, Charity Water. While volunteering, Harper recorded the theme song for Charity Water which was met with rave reviews. This instantly motivated him to switch the focus of his music from social responsibility to an educational perspective, directly leading to Harper creating The "Hip Hop Saves Lives Movement". The Hip Hop Saves Lives movement became an international movement within its first year of conception. The organization was invited to perform at The United Nations on a day that was slated to acknowledge the eradication of extreme poverty.

Next, Mahatma Gandhi's foundation The Sabarmati Ashram, brought Harper to India as a guest keynote speaker. Shortly after, Desmond Tutu commisioned Hip Hop Saves Lives to write and produce a birthday song for his 83rd birthday. Later, Carnegie Hall brought Harper in to teach performing arts workshops. This later inspired Harper to create his clothing line, BBFLY (Black Babies Fly) and also start a new movement "I AM BLACK AMERICAN". The first single off the official, I AM BLACK AMERICAN album is the self-titled track which is slated for a spring 2021 release date.

In 2012, Harper started his educational work in the New York school system after being asked to provide custom curriculum for an after school program. From there, Harper began working with incarcerated youth facilities, New York City libraries, homeless teen shelters, juvenile probation centers, and community centers. 

In 2014, Harper was the recipient of the Music for Empowerment award at SIGEF.

Snowden shared with us her life story from growing up in an alcoholic family with a terminally ill mother who became sick when she was 6 and died when I was 21 years old.  For the the first 25 years of her life, she did not speak up, she followed the submission pattern of her mother.  But she got therapy, woke up and learned to claim the power of her voice.  As a child of alcoholics, she still works on myself everyday.

Hajia is a Financial Literacy Campaigner, a Chartered Accountant, Project management professional with over 20 years of service experience in varied industries with a strong financial analytical background. She was the Finance & Administrative Manager on the USAID EQUALL project, a one time Branch and Accounts manager for CAL Bank Ghana. She was the Director of Projects and Programmes for the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development (Ghana).

Hajia shared with us her Educational journey with all the limitations that did not deter her but with determination and the right attitude, she was able to handle top Directorial positions. She also talked about how everyone in their own small way can start a business or can be gainfully employed. Hajia states that everyone can be employed or set up their own business unless the person decides not to work. In short, Unemployment must be a forgotten word, espercially amongst graduates because they have the ability to start something of their own with little or no money at all.

She narrated varied ways a graduate or the youth can take up head pan/table top family businesses and with the knowledge, training and experience gathered from the university turn that into a household business. Listen to the whole interview to hear more.
