Word of the Day
ACCEPTANCE – when you look up the meaning of this word on Google™ it says, “the quality or state of being accepted or acceptable”. However, if I have no idea what the word means even placing it in a sentence may skew my interpretation. The English language can be confusing; however, this word should be understood and practiced as we are all unique with some similarities. Even if we agree, we may not come to an agreement in the same manner.
Acceptance is more important than awareness, however we must be aware and open to dialogue for us to accept another or for them to accept us. Am I CONFUSING YOU?
“Acceptance means fully acknowledging the facts of a situation and not fixating on how it shouldn't be that way.” The should ‘haves and the could ‘haves, must be removed from our thoughts if we are to be ACCEPTED for the individual we are.

Today’s guests Eric Lieberman and Alicia Aragon lead Blue Largo, a band on a mission to bring love and harmony back into our world. On the band’s new album “Got To Believe,” founder/guitarist Eric Lieberman wrote the song “A World Without Soul,” as his personal lament that the arts—especially music—has taken a distant second place to consumerism and the latest technology.

Blue Largo formed in 2000, began playing 1940s and ‘50s blues covers by Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Louis Jordan and T Bone Walker. Eric was a renowned blues guitar player on the Southern California blues scene, which is when he first met Alicia Aragon at San Diego’s Mandolin Wind. He performed there every weekend, while she waitressed. She loved to sing and had a great voice, but never desired to perform professionally until 1999 when she said “yes!” to starting a band with Eric. In 2006 Eric was diagnosed with a neurological condition known as Focal Dystonia. Though the malady severely affected the coordination in his right hand, Eric said “no” to the potential end of his guitar playing. For the past 15 years, he spent five hours a day, following a strict regimen to create new neurotransmitters with activities that included learning brail and formal piano lessons, which has helped him to be 95% better, playing close to his peak years, especially when using a thumb pick as opposed to a flat pick.

A pioneer of college women’s studies programs, Diane received her Ph.D. in the History of Consciousness from the University of California. She is also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from Douglass College at Rutgers University. Diane began her teaching career in the Netherlands and was a college professor in Paris, New York City, and California.
