From the secret beach hut studio, twelve-year podcasting veteran, James Martell and Digital Marketing Strategist, Kimberly Juchnowski talk with Amy Jo Corkern about how to make money with a podcast. As always, James and Kimberly focus on strategies to develop a passive income so you can spend more time doing the things that really matter. Amy Jo agrees. She tried trading hours for dollars and decided she wasn’t fan. So she went into business for herself. Today, she’ll tell James and Kimberly how she got her podcast, The VIP Lounge, off to such a successful start. She’ll share her strategies for building an audience, for always having content ready and for offering a few little extras that will make your podcast stand out.
Amy Jo is a success coach and has a degree in Art Therapy and certifications in Coaching, Holistic and Integrative Health, and Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She started her own company, Soul Paint Co. in 2012 and was soon awarded the POP Scholarship by the National Association of Women Business Owners. Amy Jo helps women become the bosses of their own lives, by overcoming self-limiting beliefs and creating businesses that support their lifestyle.
Being such a successful entrepreneur, Amy Jo was also quick to discover how to make money with a podcast. The freshly launched VIP Lounge podcast is a platform for sharing women’s success stories. Amy believes in having an easy, conversational tone (she tells James and Kimberly that she rarely edits her shows) and in offering value to her listeners.
How to Make Money with a Podcast
Do podcasts make money? Only if people listen to them. Amy knows how to build an audience. She had her business in front of over 40,000 people within eight weeks of becoming self-employed. She also made a splash when starting her podcast. Amy Jo tells James and Kimberly how she set a target date for launching her podcast, and then took steps to ensure her own accountability.
Not only did she launch the VIP Lounge Podcast on schedule (her schedule!), but she did it with a bang. Amy Jo will share the strategies she used to immediately attract listeners to her podcast. And if you’re wondering whether or not those strategies worked, Amy’s show was listed in iTunes as New and Noteworthy by its third episode.
What You Will (and Won’t) Hear
As usual, you’ll hear lots of tips about how to make money with a podcast. James also asked Amy Jo for her favorite success quote. She has one, a famous quote from Mark Twain, but you won’t hear it in the show. What you will hear is:

* How to set a target date for launching your podcast and ensure you’ll stick to it
* Strategies for creating a backlog of interviews so that you always have content ready for a podcast
* How to select guests that will give you off the charts ratings
* How to enhance your podcast with training and workbooks
* The biggest challenges to having a podcast – even for a techie
* Amy Jo’s advice to new podcasters (this is starting to sound familiar…)
