Yeah, yeah. I know. Statistics and data can be unbelievably boring. However, without getting a grasp on some of your numbers, you're not going to find it easy to succeed with your online business. I'm going to go in-depth into the statistical analysis of your business in many future episodes of this podcast, however today's episode is covering something quite simple, and that's the retention rate of your podcast's listeners. Retention rate is simply the amount of a piece of your content that your audience consumes. For example, on Youtube or with a podcast, if the average consumer of a piece of content only consumes 50% of it before dropping off, your retention rate is 50%. Generally speaking, the higher this number the better. Podcasts usually have lower retention rates than YouTube content, simply because the average podcast episode is considerably longer than the average YouTube video. And herein lies the problem. When it comes to monetising anything you're doing online, you need to be making sure people are actually seeing your monetisation messages. And here's where retention rates are so important, as I'll chat about in this episode.
