My guest, Caroline, dreamed she was given a cheque made out to ‘Radiant Light Being’, or, on looking at it again, did it say ‘Radiant Glowing Jellyfish’? Either way, she felt she shouldn’t be paid because she had only been helping a secretary clean up a professor’s office. “Must be because I’m angelic,” she quipped to the secretary, and they both cracked up laughing.

Later in the dream the professor holds up a tiny yellow raincoat, “Do you want this?” he asks. Ever since her dream, a month ago, she’s been enjoying entertaining people with the question of the tiny yellow dream raincoat: what a strange thing for the professor to offer, and well – did she want it?

Plenty happened in the dream between the radiant light jellyfish moment and the tiny yellow raincoat moment, and you’ll hear us explore and make sense of it all.

My guest, Karen, had a dream about discovering a hidden library filled with eclectic books and antiquities downstairs in her house. As she wondered who created it and why it wasn’t being used, she became lucid to her dream and lamented that the library – like all the extra rooms she has discovered over the years in other dreams – wouldn’t be real when she woke up.

Karen’s lucid dream state faded as the dream rolled on to continue its job of processing her experiences of the last couple of days. Michelle Pfeiffer appears, in both a young and aged version, and an enticing forest track beckons just beyond Karen’s dining room window. Many people who are quiet and considerate towards others in waking life dream of expressing such rage that it spills into violence. “She’s too stupid to see he’s trying to help her,” shout some people in a bowling alley as she runs through, pursued by the foreigner’s men and a newspaper arrow that seems to have a life of its own.

“Leave!” Renee yelled, as they chased her through a bar. She could feel the presence of her parents backing her.

Finally she arrived in a place that felt like an Italian town, beautiful and intricate, with a theatre at the centre. Did she keep running? Did the foreigner catch up with her? Did she find love? More importantly, what does Renee’s dream mean?

Juana is my guest in this episode, with a dream about being on a television show to ask for help for her disabled (she used the word handicapped in the dream) son. (Her son is not disabled in waking life.) She was pleased with herself for speaking up on air, even though she felt exposed and a little ridiculous, and did not receive the help she had wanted. It was a different story when they stopped filming and the show director offered to help by taking her on a tour of ‘The Mission Above’, a tower where help was on hand. Her partner in the dream declined the offer, and Juana found herself unable to speak up and say yes to what seemed like her last chance to get help for her son.

To speak up or not to speak up, that is the question. But about what?

Fortunately Juana speaks up openly during this episode as we interpret her dream, relate it to what’s going on in her life, and discover what’s holding her back. Juana receives quite a momentous insight, as you’ll hear, and experiences a profound shift during the dream alchemy visualisation that I take her through.

Katie is my guest asking about a dream she had the night after breaking up with her boyfriend. In the dream, her boyfriend carries on with another girl at a party as if Katie’s invisible. She’s so angry that she violently throws another girl onto her back, again and again, while the girl just laughs at her. By the end of the dream, the boyfriend declares his dilemma and his love for Katie in a FaceBook status update.

When you dream of your partner following a relationship breakup, it’s natural to think that you’re tuning into what your partner is up to, or what he’s thinking or feeling – after all, you two were close, weren’t you? Welcome to the first episode recorded in my new studio! I wonder if you can hear any difference. It’s a bigger space, so I can stand at the microphone and wave my arms and hands around as I talk to you. Even though you can’t see me, it feels good to get my whole body involved in painting the picture I want to communicate to you.

I was talking to my two and a half year old granddaughter on the phone last week. “Look Grandma!” Isobel said, “Can you see the new fairy garden I made?” She was rather perplexed that I couldn’t. She has a rich imagination, so I guess she could see me in her mind’s eye and – believing her vision to be accurate – assumed I could see her pointing to her fairy garden. So you’ll excuse me for getting excited about my new studio because I can use my hands to show you what I mean.

I’ve been told that communicating kinaesthetically – gesturing with hands and body – is possibly a genetic thing related to my European heritage. What’s your communication style? What’s your preferred medium for absorbing information, for being inspired? I ask because in this episode I bring you a platter of dreams and dream topics that I have recently recorded to video or blogged about, and I wonder what difference listening makes to you personally over watching or reading. Even if you’ve read these articles before, do you understand the nuances more when you listen?

Nicole is my guest with a dream about pythons writing in her backyard, and if that’s not dramatic enough for a scary dream, how about that sabre tooth tiger that emerges from the bushland? Oh, and did I mention unicorns?

People often ask “what does it mean to dream of snakes?” There is no universal answer, and like all dream symbols, the snake in your dream may mean something quite different from the snake in someone else’s dream. As you listen to this episode, you’ll hear us uncover the meaning of the pythons in Nicole’s dream, as well as the meaning of all the other key symbols and how they relate to what is happening in Nicole’s life.

Interpreting a dream accurately is an art, science, and skill that goes far beyond identifying personal dream symbols. It involves looking at the overall picture of the dream, breaking down the elements of the scenarios, examining how the symbols interact (in Nicole’s dream you’ll witness blending and transformation of some of her dream symbols, for example), and listening to the words a dreamer uses when talking about a dream. And that’s just for starters.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to apply some of these techniques as well as enjoy an insight into Nicole’s life through understanding her dream.

The goal of dream analysis is to reveal the dreamer’s mindset, because that gives the dreamer a deep understanding of why they see, interact with, and respond to the world in the way that they do. If they wish, that mindset can be changed using dream alchemy techniques that work directly on the unconscious mind.

My guest, Susan, brings her richly entertaining dream to the show for interpretation and insight. The action all takes place on campus at an ivy-covered science building, where a psychic is on stage, sharing knowing glances with Susan. There’s breaking news, drums beating out a protest, and pandemonium when Susan is accused of being an interloper. It’s just as well that the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, wearing an emerald green gown, is there to hi-five Susan and save the day with an impromptu fun street party.

So what does it mean, how does it relate to Susan’s life, and what can she gain from understanding her dream?

As with all episodes featuring a guest, I hear the dream for the first time during the recording. I know nothing about the dream beforehand, not even the theme. We do this so that you can experience the whole process from the telling of the dream, through the questions, the piecing together of the interpretation, and the insights as they arise. You have the privilege of listening into an intimate conversation about a dream and what it reflects about the dreamer’s life, while absorbing dream interpretation and analysis techniques that you can apply in your life or professional practice.
