juSt b makes her debut on the always high-concept Configurations of Self label with a stunning new EP alongside label boss Alexander Church.

Yorkshire-based producer & sound designer Alexander Church is an adventurous artist, on the scene since the mid 90s, making everything from melodic soundscapes to industrial techno under a range of aliases. Without setting any creative boundaries, he draws consistent inspiration from his own deep thinking and desire to tell a personal story.
His Configurations of Self imprint, fusing academic teachings, music, and passion for visual media, has grown significantly since its inception in early 2019, seeing frequent guest appearances by the likes of @jodybarrmusic & @jameswelsh. Each piece of music represents emotional responses to the processes, feelings, and self-awareness that Church has experienced through his study of psychology and counselling.

Toronto-based artist juSt b has spent the better part of the last seven years dedicated to refining a diverse palette and style which is unquestionably, uniquely her own. As an accomplished DJ, radio show host, label manager, published writer, industry ambassador, and genuine story-teller, with no shortage of curveballs in her repertoire, she’s never afraid to take risks and explore new avenues of expression. With a top-rated monthly DIFM show, Undercurrents, and three European tours in 2019, she also acts as co-manager for Getting Deeper and heads up UK imprint, Configurations of Self, alongside label boss Alexander Church.
This new release, Configurations 12, features juSt b’s smooth, thought-provoking and mindful vocals inspired by humanistic view points that both artists share, delivered as life-affirming musings that add a fantastic layer of emotional depth and positivity to Church’s always avant-garde futurist productions.
The opener ‘In The Field’ swirls with spoken word vocals around the theme of the complex relationship between a counsellor and their client. They place you in a dream-like state as harmonica pads ripple all around and deep, smooth beats move you onwards. An instrumental is included which makes for just as celestial and cathartic listening as you are suspended in the lush production.
The second superb offering, ‘Curious Paradox’, is another post-rave mix of IDM, techno and ambient, with the alluring vocal element fusing teachings from renowned psychologist, Carl Rogers, encouraging you to accept who you are today so that change becomes easier. It’s a deeply uplifting trip to the outer edges of our galaxy on gorgeously mellifluous pads, arps and melodies. The instrumental strips back the track to the mind-expanding synth work and makes for an even more detached affair.
These are tracks that connect on a mental as well as physical level, with moving psychological overtones that make them full body experiences.
