Today, Ben preached about doing the things we can to support refugees. Even if the situation seems overwhelming, there are still things we can do and differences we can make.

This morning, James preached on Mark 7:24-37.  He started out by admitting this may not be the easiest gospel reading to preach on. In it Jesus does some weird stuff – he calls a woman a dog and spits in a man’s mouth.  He goes on to explain the depths of the stories.

His sermon was based on the feeding of the five thousand as told in John 6:1-21.

God of Possibilities (Sermon 26 July 2015)

This morning, Ben reported back on taking “a bit of Johnsonville” to the diocesan Ministry conference; Nathan talked about his experience of the Cursillo retreat and Fiona talked about her experience of Alpha.

The theme for all three reflections centered around today’s gospel reading where Jesus tries to take some quiet time with his disciples (Mark 6:30-34 and 53-56).

Today we had all-age worship. Diana Langdom (Standz Enabler) visited and led us through some activities. The first was an activity to get to know each other.  Following this she talked about banquets and showed a short video based on the Parable of the Great Banquet (Luke 14:15-24).  This led into a discussion of the Faith Five – which can be used by families at dinner or bed time:
