  • Village of Homer sprucing up busy NY-281 corridor (audio)

On today’s Happening in Homer segment:

Village trustee Kevin Slack gave an early preview of the Route 281 beautification project.

He and co-board member Ed Finkbeiner were appointed by Mayor Hal McCabe to oversee the effort, which is currently still in its preliminary phase.

“We’re looking for as many ideas as possible from residents and businesses along 281,” Slack said during this morning’s interview. “Our goal is to include everyone while continuing to build towards the long-term comprehensive plan.”

A pair staples in Homer — the Center for the Arts and Artisan Elements — quickly jumped aboard and committed to help with planning the initiative.

On today’s “Peek at the Peak” segment:

Hannah Bistocchi from Greek Peak joined the Morning Drive with Vinnie Bellardini via phone.

Sunny skies and 60-degree temperatures provide an ideal backdrop if you’re still not ready to let go of winter snow sports at the mountain.

Season passes are also on sale for next year, which get you access to the rest of this year as well.

They are still hoping to remain open until May 1.

The other exciting news: Hope Lake Lodge can start reopening slides inside its 41,000 sq. ft. indoor water park, following official permission by the state.
