Family Day Camp is a program ACCOIN provides to Childhood Cancer Families in treatment or recently out of treatment.  The driving force of Day Camp is our amazing Camp Director Marilyn “Marigold” Taylor.  Marigold’s passion and drive to help these families and provide them a day of respite is nothing short of miraculous.  She is dedicated, driven and devoted to Camp.

Family Day Camp is a day where these families can step back from the daily stress of Cancer treatment and just breathe, allowing them to enjoy one another as a family.  In short it gives them a much needed break, fueling them back up for the arduous cancer battle.

Having been through a cancer diagnosis herself, not once but three different times gives Marigold a very unique perspective.  She lives, breathes, and IS Family Day Camp.  We are all very grateful that Marigold chooses to dedicate so much of her time helping Childhood Cancer Families.

Casey Luttrull is about as inspirational as they come. At the young age of 19 Casey had his whole life in front of him with plans to finish lineman school and start his adult life. It all came to a screeching halt when he was suddenly thrown into the Cancer world.

Diagnosed with a brain tumor Casey would undergo surgery, radiation therapy and of course chemo.  Casey has certainly been through a great deal and has remained positive throughout his cancer journey and now into survivorship.  His life has changed dramatically in a short period of time.

Because of health reasons Casey was unable to finish lineman school, instead he has set his sights on becoming a pediatric oncology nurse.  I have a feeling he will do just that.  Casey’s determination and positive outlook on life will take him far in this world and we will all be rooting for him along the way.

Christopher Arkoosh and Michael Thomas from the Wake up Call have been huge supporters of ACCOIN over the years.  They continue to have a promotion at all the Wake up call locations to help kick off Childhood Cancer Awareness month each year, raising funds for ACCOIN in the process.  They are truly great examples of what a difference local businesses can have in their community.

Local Childhood Cancer fighter Mateo has been strong and courageous throughout his Childhood Cancer journey.  Mateo, 12 years old, has many interests similar to many boys his age.  He loves his pets, loves hanging out with friends, and yes you guessed it loves playing video games (specifically Minecraft).  His love of animals has inspired him to become a veterinarian when he gets older.

Mateo is a kind, thoughtful young man with a great smile that will light up the whole room.  We will all be rooting for Mateo as he finishes up treatment and on into survivorship.
