Poetry Medicine - Ancient Emotion

Listen Later

Your emotions have not evolved since you were part of a nomadic, foraging community, thousands of years ago.

And although we have more words to describe how we feel now, our physiological emotions have remained unchanged.

That means, even though our external environment has changed irrevocably in the last thousands of years - our bodies remain wired to an ancient way of living.

Is it any wonder those of us who are highly sensitive or identify with being an Empath find refuge in being closer to the earth?

Is it any wonder we dream of speaking with the unseen world and long to belong to a soul-connecting community?

Is it any wonder we feel exhausted in the loneliness of our parenthood or heartbroken at the abandonment of our elders?

Is it any wonder that we feel disconnected in an era that allows us to be more connected than ever…wanting to be heard in a crowd full of voices and seen in a space where only some faces are celebrated?

Is it any wonder...

Our bodies are calling us back, through emotion, to the remedies that this modern world cannot heal alone.
