Today’s episode is going to be cathartic for me! Because like many journalists out there, I have a lot to say about the media landscape’s blatant use of bias and one mainstream media platform has found itself in deep caca.
On December 28th The New York Times published an article titled Screams without words, How Hamas Weaponized Sexual Violence on Oct. 7.
It detailed stories of alleged rapes against Israeli women based on descriptions of photographs and video footage and claimed systematic sexual violence as a key part of the attack.
A story that is extremely triggering to people, but especially those who have experienced assault in their lives. A story that sounds horrific and unimaginable if it were true.
But it wasn’t.
Award-winning storyteller and Palestinian Jenan Matari joins me to talk about the role of media bias in Palestine coverage.
You can find Jenan on Instagram.

While putting this episode together I gathered some research on the protest vote, third-party candidates, and the reasons they get such a bad rap.
Did you know protest voters are not actually to blame for electoral losses?
Did you know the U.S. is only a partial democracy?
Did you know there’s only been one third-party candidate that’s ever come close to winning?
Did you know socialist candidates have a long history in American politics?
Get ready for a wild ride with this one mi gente!
You can watch the video here on Substack or listen on Apple Podcasts.
Claudia De La Cruz joins me to discuss her grassroots campaign on a socialist platform, and why she feels so strongly that the Democrats and Republicans are just two peas in a pod.
Hopefully, once you finish this episode you will know more about the protest vote, third-party candidates, and how to critically think about the upcoming election.
You can find out more about Claudia De La Cruz on Instagram and her Website.
I'm excited to announce the new podcast I've been working on! This has been so fun to work on and I can’t wait for you to see the episodes.
