This week I sit down with a close family friend, Pony, AKA John Connerton of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (known as "The Magnificent Bastards!") and we discuss his time serving in the Vietnam War and how it affected him. We talk everything from Purple Hearts, to the treatment of returning soldiers, PTSD and having to go off the grid for nearly a decade after the war.
It's an interesting look at going to war from the perspective of someone who enlisted to serve his country, and how that affected him and his entire life moving forward.
There isn't too heavy of specifics on dates and battles but it's a cool look at the emotional effects of war from a first person perspective.
