  • 172: In Defense of Kourtney Kardashian & HER Dolce Vita Lifestyle
The gals give their thoughts on Raquel Leviss going back to her birth name of Rachel, and why it might do her some to good to lay low for another 3-6 months before returning to the scene as wholesome Rachel. Lauren tells Chan about a recent drunken night where she and Kagen watched the 2020 Taylor Swift documentary on Netflix. In a moment of true marital bliss, Kagen saw the light and suggested that he and Lauren go to one of Taylor's concerts. It was quite possibly the easiest "yes!" of Lauren's life, second only to saying yes to Kagen's marriage proposal. Lauren and Chan dig into the newest season of The Kardashians, specifically Kim and Kourtney's feud that reached a fever pitch after Kourtney's wedding. The gals discuss why Kim feels an extra level of competition with Kourtney and why she can't take joy in Kourtney's happiness.
Lauren and Chan aren't fighting over Italian weddings and Dolce and Gabbana campaigns, but they can relate to the sister strife that comes when when they both want to have their own identities and individual brands. Regardless, Lauren and Chan agree that family is their top priority, which doesn't always seem to be the case for the Kardashians when they get a fantastic business opportunity.
Finally, Lauren and Chan discuss the mysterious case of Carlee Russell, the woman who disappeared without a trace after allegedly seeing a toddler wandering on the side of the highway, only to return home 48 hours later. Mainstream media is giving one set of facts, but the detectives at TikTok are painting an entirely different picture.

  • 171: 3M DOWNLOADS 🍾🍾🍾 Guana Island Recap + Jonah Hill Texts

Pop Apologists has received 3 million downloads, so it was time for Lauren and Chan to celebrate with a trip to Guana Island! After hearing about the relaxed and luxurious all-inclusive experience, it is easy to see why Lauren (and now Chan!) love this island so much. In a true stroke of luck, one of their follow vacationers had some Nashville celebrity tea, and the gals heard all about it. Prepare yourself for funny stories about Taylor Swift and her mom Andrea, as well as wholesome stories about Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman that will only increase your love for the couple. Chan shares her annoyance with Lauren’s Serena Joy energy toward her vacation outfit planning, e.g. naked dresses, and Lauren gives her reasoning for encouraging a more country club casual look. In the end, the gals took a note from Taylor Swift and packed fits to make the whole place ✨shimmer✨, at least for a few minutes, before changing back into their more comfortable linen and gingham attire.

The gals then discuss the text messages between Jonah Hill and his ex-girlfriend Sarah Brady. The misogynistic ways that Jonah requests Sarah to behave in the name of “boundaries” is giving them serious incel vibes and serves as a major word of caution for anyone who has a partner that tries to dim their light because it makes them insecure. Lauren and Chan bring other perspectives into the discussion, such as House in Habit’s defense of Jonah Hill, where she uses Simone Biles level mental gymnastics to spin Jonah’s behavior into “maintaining healthy boundaries” and somehow paints Sarah Brady as the problem.

For anyone wondering where Lauren and Chan have gotten some of their best looks, you’re in luck! The gals have their Amazon storefront ready, so visit this Amazon link for direct access to some of their must-haves: https://amzn.to/46EMCbc

  • 170: THE CRUMBLING OF KYLE & MAURICIO 🚨 EVERYTHING WE KNOW 🚨

Today is a very dark day for the Pop Apologists after learning the shattering news that Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky, the lighthouse and beacon of marital goals, may be coming to an end. Kyle and Mauricio, who came from nothing and married for true love, and built an amazing life with their four daughters, may be headed for divorce. After news broke that Kyle and Mauricio had allegedly separated, the gals did a deep dive to examine what could have led this power couple to be on truly shaky ground. Lauren and Chan piece together information from @facereality16 and @igfamousbydana to paint a picture of this travesty with some serious sleuthing, one instagram post at a time. Unfortunately for all of us, it looks like when there was smoke, there was also fire. Kyle and country singer Morgan Wade have been posting about each other for over a year, and it’s looking like much more than a friendship. From matching tattoos to matching rings, all signs are pointing to Kyle and Morgan being together. Morgan’s lyrics “You’ve got a secret, I want to keep it” seem to be pointing right to our Housewife. The gals revisit the chilling prediction that psychic Allison Dubois gave Kyle in 2010, when she told Kyle that Mauricio would never emotionally fulfill her, but she would stay with him and he would take care of her. While they are now reevaluating everything they’ve ever known about love, there are some serious questions to be asked, specifically, what led to Kyle and Mauricio’s marriage being on life support? The gals share conspiracy theories on what they think happened and what is next for the beloved couple.

  • 169: Harry & Meghan's Downward Spiral
This week's episode starts off with a bang with the gals revisiting two separate concerts they have ruined for their mother Deb, including the worst thing Chan has ever done at the tender age of 16. The gravity of injustice Chan put her mother through during what should have been an evening of joy still renders her speechless 11 years later.
After watching Titanic with her husband, Kagen, Lauren is worried that her marriage has also hit an iceberg and is now sinking, since Kagen is convinced that Lauren wouldn't jump off a life boat and go back to the Titanic for him, a la Rose and Jack.
The gals talk about their hall passes, what needs to happen for the hall pass to be green lit (hint: it's very different for men and women), and whether Chan's hall pass was accidentally used last year.
Their favorite grifters are the subject of a scathing Wall Street Journal article called Harry and Meghan Produce a Royal Flop: Themselves. They discuss some truly tacky behavior from H&M, and issue yet another plea for the type of content the people are actually interested in seeing from the Sussexes.
The gals give their thoughts on Taylor Swift declining Meghan Markle's handwritten invitation to appear on the Archetypes podcast through a representative and why Taylor's loyalties likely lie across the pond with Prince William.
Finally, Lauren and Chan weigh in on Taylor Swift's plea to Swifties to leave John Mayer alone and immediately plays the song Dear John during her concert in preparation for Speak Now (Taylor's version) coming out next month.

  • 168: DEEP DIVE 🍾 The LIFE & LOVERS of Natalie Portman

Today we take on the seminal task of dissecting the life and lovers of Natalie Portman. We take our listeners on a journey, from the moment Natalie was discovered in a pizza parlor as a child through her rise to fame as the esteemed Hollywood actress and Oscar winner we know her as today. More interestingly, however, we pull out a magnifying glass on the slew of relationships and pen pals that have left their mark on Natalie's beguiling heart. This includes (but is not limited to) her torrid romance with Gael Garcia Bernal that ended in her flying to Argentina to confront him and his mistress when she got word that he was cheating with a co-star. We dig into the cringe-y emails between Natalie and Jonathan Safran Foer, who was so taken with their Gmail thread that he LEFT HIS WIFE FOR NATALIE, mistakingly assuming that he was participating in a requited love. Friends, Natalie's life is one of earnest intelligence and sexual fervor, and we lead you through it with no detail spared. So this Wednesday, we invite you to pour a cocktail, get cozy, and buckle in for THE LIFE AND LOVERS OF NATALIE PORTMAN.

The gals get into Taylor Swift and Matty Healy's breakup and the purpose they believe Matty played in Taylor's life.
