In this first installment of Pop Culture Preparedness, we look at the first episode of AMC's The Walking Dead. Throughout this episode, as with many works of fiction, we see good and bad examples of the application of principles of preparedness and empowerment. We'll discuss the practice of "Zombie Preparedness" education, drills, etc. as well as what the characters in the show did well, or could have done better as they face the beginning of a new world filled with Zombies.

Preparedness and education are two of the five pillars of the Life, Liberty, And Pursuit Of Happiness Project because you should not only be empowered, educated, and able to build your best life, but also have the knowledge and tools you need to protect the life you build when emergencies or disasters happen so you can thrive.
