I think Pope Francis misses the boat on some key things.

I don’t believe – for instance – that the earth is a giant microwave about to enter it’s final heating cycle.

I don’t think America & Great Britain are purveyors of an economic machine that feeds on the poorest to provide luxury to the wealthiest.

Yet, as I watched the Pope progress across our eastern seaboard this weekend, I came to a surprising conclusion.

In a vital way, the Pope is right.

Here is a religious leader with a massive following – who has earned that adoration in one of the most powerful ways you can. Pope Francis has shown himself to be a man of tremendous caring and love for others.

And he’s using the unique position he holds to advocate for the things he deeply believes in.
