“It is a tale told by an idiot – full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
– William Shakespeare, “Macbeth” Act 5, Scene 5
Donald Trump has caused me to think deeply about something.
Don’t cue the laugh track. This is not a drill.
The enormous popularity of the Reality TV sensation in the GOP presidential horse race has brought me face to face with one of those big questions:
What is the point?
What is the point of Conservatism in 2015? What cause do we stand for?
The noble Aaron McInitre, in our latest GooseRadio Podcast, helped me understand that Mr. Trump is serving as a timely vessel to express a long simmering rage about the direction of our land, and – in so expressing – may help to change things in Washington.
Yet, is that really what the selection of the GOP standard bearer has become in 2015?
What the Conservative movement is seeking in a leader today is the individual who best distills its rage? We used to be so much more than this. We used to be a cause that strove to a build a shining city on a hill – that believed in what America is & could aspire to be.
I grapple with this discovery in our latest GooseRadio Podcast, below. A cause, a purpose to get up each day – it’s even more important in life than in politics, because – as we’re reminded each day – politics isn’t the answer.
What is the point? That’s the question on this latest trek toward information, entertainment & a general sense of well being. Thanks for sharing in the journey.
