In "Simple Steps" Kara talks about her own mental health journey and the first steps she took that literally helped save her life. 

1. Processing with someone

2. Realizing that everything you believe, isn't always true

3. Don't count out essential oils + natural supplements 

4. Care for your physical, which in turns helps with the mental (exercise, y'all!) 

5. Pour into others; love on your fellow brokens 

There is no shame in what you are feeling. Your feelings may be valid, but you don't have to live with them. 

And, as always, remember -- you are loved! 

Just because the road is rough, does not mean it's the wrong road. 

The world tells me that I am not my body--that my value is what I make it. While these words can sound freeing to my personhood, they unintentionally have sent the message that I will NEVER be good enough. 

In this episode of "Porch Swing Conversations," Kara shares her own personal struggles with finding the meaning of life, and why these ideals hurt her journey even though they were supposed to help. 

I was around the age of eleven when I became dissatisfied with my gender and who I was.

This thought threw me into a whirlwind of depression, anxiety, and darkness that took years of battles, and I am here to stand up against my old ideals that the girl in the mirror was a mistake. Part one of more episodes to come on sexual identity, this episode is a passionate call to loving ourselves as God intended.
