Luke's Gospel provides us with more meal time scenes than any of the others. Further, our text today is the fourth invitation that Jesus had to dine with a leader of the Pharisees and it happened to be on the Sabbath.

Setting: Jesus had been invited to eat at the home of a Pharisee, not because the Pharisees admired Him, but to find some way to ruin His ministry. Jesus turned the table on them and confronts their hypocrisy.

He said to them, "When you pray, say: 'Father, May your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come. Give us each day the food we need. Forgive us our sins, for we too forgive everyone who has wronged us. And do not lead us to hard testing.'" Luke 11:2-4, Complete Jewish Bible

Our job description:

We are to go out as Christ's ambassadors;

We are to look for ways to show mercy.
