Port Orchard Church of the Nazarene

This week, we were joined again by guest speaker Dan Schiopu from Woodland, Washington. He shared with us about how God's righteousness looks different than any of Earth's justice systems. On Earth, we tend to judge people by their actions, while God looks at things differently. With the help of scripture, Pastor Dan examines this idea and offers some new insights.

This week, Pastor Jerry continued his series on Colossians, focusing on hope. In a constantly-connected world, hope can be a difficult thing to hang onto. Fortunately, Paul has some advice for us in times of uncertainty and what feels like hopelessness.

This week, we were blessed to be joined by our District Superintendent, Pastor Jerry Kester. He shared with us the importance of properly reading the Bible. While speed-reading may be a valid approach to other texts, it can lead to missing some important information when used to read the Bible. Additionally, he spoke about how important it is to live our lives in a way that brings restoration to those who feel 'done' with any sort of religion.

This week, Pastor Jerry began a new series on the book of Colossians to provide some context on the early church. An important difference between Colossians and the Gospels is that it is a letter written by Paul, a former Pharisee-turned-disciple, to the people in Colossae, located in modern-day Turkey. Pastor Jerry explains the importance of this information in this week's message.

This week, Pastor Jerry wrapped up his series on the Incarnation. He focused on the mysterious New Testament teaching, our union with Christ. Jesus taught that union with Himself is the basis of our Salvation, and it begins with His Incarnation.

This week, Pastor Jerry continued his series on the Incarnation of Jesus, focusing on the peace of God. Several verses in both the Old and New Testament refer to the birth of Jesus in a peaceful manner. Even Isaiah referred to Jesus as the Prince of Peace. Pastor Jerry explores this idea in this week's message.
