MY SOUL WAITS UPON THE LORD.
Waiting upon the Lord is a type of prayer that allows us to bask in the Magnificent, Splendour, and Majesty of the Father. It is a time when we are called to reflect our thoughts and the rest of our soul faculties on His sovereignty, as we remain still in His presence to respond. In this place of captivated beauty, power, and wisdom of God, we are correctly and effectively aligned and directed to talk back to God, which can be defined as prayer of contemplation or meditation.
More often than not, we define prayer as approaching the Lord with our own sense of need and desires, rather than listening for what the Lord may need or desire from us. Our request for God's intervention is based on our own understanding of what we want God to do, or how we want God to move and intervene in our lives, or in the lives of others.
In this type of prayer, we use our own knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, which we may have gained from studying God's word or from the experiences we have had in life. Then we have the prayer request that comes from how God has been presented to us by some of his preachers and leaders.
More often than not, the way we see other people's preachings and teachings shapes how we see ourselves, God, and the world around us. The different churches and spiritual organizations we've encountered throughout our lives have shaped our sense of spirituality and how we relate to our heavenly Father, especially in terms of prayer and developing a relationship with Him. Our perspective of the Father greatly impacts how we approach Him in prayer and what we ask for.
This point is important, because one of the reasons why they gave us the ascended ministry gits is to build and equip us to be proficient in our spiritual transformation. Where the problem lies is when those representing God have not done their work correctly, or they themselves have been victims of false doctrine, and are giving the privilege of shaping other’s spiritual identity.
But there is another kind of spiritual arts of prayer that I believe we have not paid much attention to; the prayer that flows from the place of our soul waiting upon the Lord. We can only begin to imagine the kind of life we enter when our prayer and response to life comes from the response we get by waiting upon the Lord.
If we will be vessels of God in this end of days, we must take our prayer to the realm of acting based on what has been spoken in the closet of prayer. To come into the arts where our prayer comes from the place of waiting upon the Lord, we need a deeper understanding of spiritual life, because this prayer is inspired by the whispering of God into your own spirit.
The prayer of waiting on the Lord comes basically from waiting on God. Meaning that it is not your mind or limited understanding initiating the words, but the Spirit of God. Allowing heaven to flaw your heart, your mind, your soul with what the Father is revealing for the moment. You are inspired by the voice of God, by the mind of God, and just your own prayer request.
