Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, March 27, 2023. We begin with the head coach of the Snohomish Girls Tennis team Joel Boyer, he’ll review the Panthers’ recent trip to a prestigious tournament in the Vancouver area; plus we’ll get a preview of the 2023 Western Conference Girls Tennis season that’s just getting underway. Then it’s a combination exit interview and meet and greet with the old and new head football coaches at Lakewood High School. We’ll bid farewell for now to former Head Coach Dan Teeter and we’ll welcome new Head Coach Adam McShane to the Cougar family. Our third segment features three Everett Silvertips players. Although we think of them as professional hockey players, a group of those guys are still in school and attending high school; we’ll hear from players Eric Jamieson, Cameron Sytesma and Matthew Paszkiewicz on the challenges of playing junior hockey and going to on-line high school.

A reminder that next week’s Prep Sports Weekly radio show will be heard immediately following the Western Hockey League playoff game on Monday between the Silvertips and the Portland Winterhawks. Air-time approx. 10:00 pm.

Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, March 20, 2023. We begin with the Everett Community College Men's Basketball team that finished second in this past weekend's NWAC Tournament in Pasco; head coach Mike Trautman along with players Colton Spencer and Jadin Penigar. Then we talk Lynnwood Royals Boys Soccer with players Casey Stull and Liam Kennedy along with head coach Pablo Mummey. Scott Striegel head coach of the Arlington Eagles Baseball team is next; followed by two Wesco softball coaches Jeff and Michael Perrine (Dad Jeff is at Marysville-Pilchuch and son Michael is at Cascade).

It's a Wrestling State Championship Edition of Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, March 13, 2023. We start with Shorewood's Hunter Tibodeau who won the Class 3A 220 lb title. He was also our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Athlete of the Month for February 2023. Next it's Glacier Peak's crew of Connor Aney (state champion at 285 lbs.); Karianne Baldwin (state champion at 125 lbs.) and Gil Mossburg (second place at 145 lbs.). Then, the only three-time Snohomish County Girls Wrestling State Champion Alvia White of Marysville Pilchuck; she's joined by her coach (and mom) Andie White. Finally, Tre Haines of Arlington, who won the Class 3A title at 138 lbs. along with his coach Jonny Gilbertson. 

Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, March 6, 2023. We welcome, in studio, members of the Cascade High School National Champion Cheer Squad, including Max London, Erika Depew, Vivi McCoy and coach Trisha Roberts. Then it's the Fourth Place Trophy winners from this weekend's WIAA State 3A Girls Basketball Tournament the Stanwood Spartans with Head Coach Dustin Swanson and players Chloe Santeford, Tatum Brager, Grace Walker, with Vivenne Berrett joining by telephone. We wrap up the winter sports season with the two prep sports writers for The Everett Herald Zac Hereth and Evan Wiederspohn.

Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, February 27, 2023 and it's all All-State-Tournament-Bound Basketball Coach's Carousel. We start with the King's head coaches; Boys coach Joe Stack and Girls Coach Dan Taylor. Then, from the Western Conference, it's Shorecrest Boys Coach Eddie George, followed by Lynnwood Girls Coach Eddie McFerrin. Stanwood's Girls Coach Dustin Swanson is next; with Everett Girls Coach Darrell McNeal  and Arlington's Girls Coach Joe Marsh following. BONUS CONTENT: Nalin Sood (Mountlake Terrace Boys); Nick Brown (Arlington Boys) and Tevin Dillon (Mariner Boys). All are heading to the Tacoma Dome (3A & 4A) or the Yakima Valley Sundome (1A & 2A).

Saturday, February 25, 2023 with Tom Lafferty and Darrell Olson on the call. KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was Mariner guard Jailin Johnson; he led the scoring with 29 points and the Marauders advance to the Tacoma Dome with an 85-74 win over Chiawana.

Complete game broadcast of the 2023 WIAA Class 3A Girls Basketball Sub-Regionals; Bishop Blanchet Bears at Everett Seagulls. Tuesday, February 22, 2023 live from Joe Richer Court at Everett High School; Tom Lafferty and Joel Boyer on the call. KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was junior forward Mae Washington of Everett; she led the Seagulls with 27 points, 17 in the third quarter, as Everett defeated Bishop Blanchet 63-28. Everett advances to the 3A Regionals and will face #12 Peninsula at Tacoma Community College on Saturday at 6:00 pm.

Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, February 20, 2023 and it's an all-basketball edition, with coaches and players that are heading to the state tournament. We begin with Arlington Eagles head boys basketball coach Nick Brown; followed by Mountlake Terrace Hawks head boys basketball coach Nalin Sood. Carrying the weight of the Western Conference 4A is Tevin Dillon, head boys basketball coach of the Mariner Marauders (they're the only Wesco 4A team, boys or girls, to make the state tournament). We meet the Powell sisters, Ava and Gia, of the Meadowdale Mavericks girls basketball team. We wrap-up with both the boys and girls head basketball coaches of the Everett Seagulls in a combined interview with Bobby Thompson of the boys and Darrell McNeal of the girls.

Tom Lafferty,  Joel Boyer and Steve Willits on the call. KRKO Marysville Toyota Player  of the Game was Svayjeet Singh; he led the Hawks with a dominant inside presence; as Terrace defeated Arlington 57-34.  Both teams advance to the 3A Boys Regionals.
