Psalm 60 opens with humiliation of God's beloved, His promised land broken and tottering under the assault of His enemies. But then God raises a banner, and His people rally to it. The banner proclaims the truth that the meek will inherit the earth, that His Beloved One will claim all nations as His own inheritance, the kings of the earth as His possession. The psalm concludes with joy in the victories of God, much as Ps 44 opens with that same joy. Union with Christ is not all exaltation. Nor is it all humiliation. The Beloved of the Lord has to drink the cup, but He also gets to inherit, first the Promised Land as a down payment, but really the whole earth. When you first read the psalm, perhaps you just think of it as a random list of vaguely familiar names — a sort of skimming over the map of Israel. But when you open your ears and hear the Lord's Beloved One speaking in it, teaching us to claim His promises, you begin to love this psalm. Once again it shows us King Jesus, who is both God's Beloved and our Beloved, in His humiliation and exaltation. No sight can be more precious to the soul of a saint. He claims the nations as His own; He turns Moab into a footbath and throws His sandal at Edom. Hallelujah! What a Savior.

We start with a look at the promised return of Christ in the beginning of Acts. Then look at Zech. 14 to see some of the events at His return. We look at when this must take place to allow for a period for Christ to rule for 1000 years from Jerusalem when there is still rebellion, divine judgement and suffering in the world. This necessitates an interim kingdom between now and the eternal state. We finish with Zech 8 another revelation of Christ's return.

Man was created in the image of God for a purpose that was beyond himself. It waws a dominion purpose of cultural renovation, all of which was to be expressly for the Glory of God.
