Welcome to Interview #12 of our interview series.
Voting for recreational here in Florida will not free people locked up from non-violent cannabis crimes. We are privileged to be able to consume in a medical state, but many are not as lucky, and get long sentences from small cannabis offenses. Today's interview is important for this reason.
Stephanie grew up in Sacramento, California, the youngest of seven children. In 2005 Stephanie moved from California to New York to achieve her goal of selling Real Estate. In 2010 Stephanie was convicted of conspiracy to distribute 1000+ kilos of Marijuana. As a first-time, non-violent offender, Stephanie was sentenced to 10 years in the Federal Bureau Of Prisons. On June 5, 2019, the ankle monitor was removed and she was placed on Federal Probation for the next five years. Stephanie now serves as the Partnerships Manager for Last Prisoner Project as well as serving on the Board of Directors and is adamantly advocating with LPP in the fight for restorative justice for those who have suffered and for those who continue to suffer, as she has from Cannabis criminalization.
The Last Prisoner Project (LPP) is a nonprofit organization working to fix problems in the criminal justice system related to cannabis laws. Their main goal is to free every person who is still in prison for non-violent cannabis offenses and to help repair the damage caused by the war on drugs.
