Rev. E. Baker Sr. is a professional Gospel Singer and a minister. A native of Gilbert, Louisiana, was born Nov 12, 1937, to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Baker. He was raised in a rural, tight knit community with a population barely over 500 people. Rev. Elijah Baker Sr. was raised by both parents, alongside 7 siblings and has always bared witness to hard work and ambition in the ministry of singing. Growing up, he didn’t intend to go into stardom, but his peers always recognized his natural gift of singing and vibrant energy he brought to the stage.
Rev. Baker moved to Oakland, Ca. in 1968 to start his quartet group called in the Corinthians. After much encouragement from his family and community, he became a minister in 1987 at the Joy Baptist Church and that is where Stars of Joy Male Chorus was established. There were rave performances at countless shows in the Bay area.
With intentions to advance his career and ministry, 2016 worked with his namesake Elijah Baker Jr., Eric Kenya Baker, Raphael Saadiq, Jubu Smith, Carl Wheeler, Billy Kemp, and Timothy Calloway. These names are from the famous group Tony Toni Tone. Title songs such as “Separate Me from His Love”, “Never Had It” featuring Raphael Saadiq, and “Right Road Now” have made him a popular name on the circuit and garnering bookings. Through his ministry, gospel tracks, and viral moments on social media, Rev. Baker Sr. built a loyal fanbase of followers on all platforms. He has become a favorite with major mainstream radio stations all over the world.
