When it comes to reaching out to mentors, young people may feel intimated to approach experienced professionals who are in industries they want to learn more about. Rebecca and I discuss a few techniques that could be used to bridge this gap.

You can bring a lot to the table as a young professional. Understand what skills you have, how you can provide value, and always lead with: “how can I help you”, instead of: “what can you do for me”.

Not only did we discuss how important it is to develop strong relationships with your peers in university, at work, or through volunteer opportunities, we also discussed the importance of specializing and developing your area of expertise once you enter the workforce.
