A real tale of political intrigue
As soon as I started reading this book, I thought that was the right novel to read before voting for the new U.S. President. I am waiting for these elections, also, and for this reason I found very interesting the plot and the characters of the book. Power Play, as the subtitle says, is a real tale of political intrigue that delves into the perverse arrangements of a political campaign where candidates are ready to wolf their competitors to conquer power. During this reading, I finally understood what really is politics, a gloomy world where power comes first of people. I was wonderfully enthralled by the main character, namely Albert Caso, the 73 year old Chairman of the main party of an American County. Maybe because of the age, by now, Caso decides to help a young man, Collin Winthrop, to run for the chair of the Mayor of the city. I really appreciated how the author depicted these two characters, elder Caso and younger Collin. The first, an influential and powerful old politician who knows everything about the murky world of politics, and the second, the heir of a wealthy American family who loves power instead of to work in the business of his father. I think Iâll remember this book for a long time, because it was very useful to discover the dark sides of politics and elections.

As I finished the last page of this book the one thought that came into my head was "and the beat goes on". Politics is a profession that has always been shall we say, rather dirty.
