January 25, 2022 Live Commentary - Bills at Chiefs: No Double Coverage, Romo!
Romo is obsessed with double coverage on Hill and Kelce and constantly calling out dc when it's not there. It's a DC ghost he's seeing.

In this case it's a matchup zone. The defense is manning up on receivers in their zone and passing them off when they leave their zone and others come into their zone. It may look like man coverage, but it's deceptive. It's certainly not double coverage, but players of course are aware of where these top receivers are on the field.

This is not too different from what Todd Bowles did to KC in last year's Super Bowl with a Matchup Zone Gap Defense. I will review all of this on video during the off week after the Championship Games.
