The National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council (NACAC) presents its final report, marking the culmination of three years of work to advise on the fight against corruption in South Africa. This report comes five years after the adoption of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS), both of which are critical interventions in the ongoing struggle against corruption, an existential threat to our democracy. On 16 August 2012, South Africa witnessed its deadliest use of state violence against civilians since the end of apartheid. Thirty-four striking mineworkers were gunned down by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) at the Marikana platinum mine owned by Lonmin PLC in the North West province. On June 27, 2024, several Legacy Foundations made a call to “to the people of South Africa to join in a National Dialogue to reorientate the direction of our nation,” after many years of decline in which the promise of April 1994 had been broken. We do not claim to have been the first to have made such a call, it had in fact been made by many South Africans over the years. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) met with the family of Dimpho Motlodi on 15 August 2025 to address the controversial release and subsequent re-arrest of Atlholanang William Mosiane, a former North West traffic officer previously convicted of her murder.  Mosiane was found guilty of fatally shooting Dimpho five times in front of their nine-year-old son in Tlhabane in March 2021. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in November 2023. However, in May 2025, he was unexpectedly released after a successful appeal, which argued that the original trial was improperly constituted due to the absence of assessors, a legal requirement in certain cases under South African law.  Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is in conversation with NPA Spokesperson, Advocate Mthunzi Mhaga.

Dr Leila Fourie has been the CEO of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) for five years, and her tenure should finally see headwinds turn into tailwinds.  Fourie has roughly three decades of experience and was appointed as the CEO of the JSE on 1 October 2019. Leading the JSE is a massive task, with the JSE’s all-share market cap currently standing at close to R20 trillion. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is in conversation with JSE CEO, Dr, Lelia Fourie.

On August 17, 2025, South Africa's National Commissioner of Correctional Services, Makgothi Thobakgale, announced a significant push to implement an electronic monitoring system (EMS) to enhance oversight of parolees. The announcement comes amid public concern about parole violations, including a recent case in Kariega, Eastern Cape, where a parolee was found under the influence at a tavern resulting in re-incarceration. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is in conversation with Department of Correctional Services Commissioner, Makgothi Thobakgale.
