As a recording artist, Jade began her recording

career in 1997 with the release of her first 12"

Dance single "Why Are You Gaggin’?”. In 2000,

she signed a record deal with Triple XXX Records

in London. “Bitch, You Look Fierce” and “Proud

Mary” have become underground favorites from New

York to London. Unfortunately, Triple XXX Records

folded. “How Do I Look?” was released in 2004

and has been remixed by DJs such as DJ Paulo

and Midnight Society. Keep your ears open for the

upcoming remixes of “Trade” by Midnight Society,

soon to hit iPods and dance floors everywhere.

From the Fall of 2001 to the Summer of 2002,

Jade made a transition from night club acts to

the Off-Broadway stage. First, with a small part in

Beverly Bonner’s hit play, “Manhattan Towers” as a

character that Jade wrote herself (Paprika Jones).

Then came “Happy Birthday, Madame Alberta,” a

play written by Robert Jason Jackson for 2002’s

Black Pride NYC Generations celebration. Time Out

New York magazine featured Jade in July, 2002.

Then came a one-woman show written specifically

for her by Francisco Kali called “Daddy’s Lil’ Girl,”which was part of the Blatino Playwrights Festivalat the Bronx Academy of Art & Dance.

“When I was diagnosed in the beginning of this year I decided there were two directions I could take my future. The first would be to continue to abuse alcohol, my body and wait for death OR choose to make use of the word ‘Positive’ for all it’s worth. So, that’s what I did. I joined groups and organizations, surrounded myself with true friends and family, and focused on my true passion- writing. Here I am seven months later with a second chance at life. I made a vow to educate others to help themselves and to let the world know that it’s okay to say you’re HIV positive- with a smile.” –Christopher Myron

Chelsea Gulden learned she was HIV-positive and pregnant the summer before her senior year in college. At the time, both diagnoses were a shock. “I knew HIV was out there, but I didn’t know much else,” says 23-year-old Gulden, who today is an adolescent care coordinator at the Metrolina AIDS Project in Charlotte, N.C. Gulden was on antiretroviral medication while pregnant, and she gave her newborn son, Noah, AZT syrup every six hours the first six weeks of his life. “All I could think about was my baby,” she says. “I didn’t have time to process my own diagnosis. I was just praying for him to be OK, and I was so happy when he tested negative.”Chelsea is currently involved with Hope's Voice and is a United States Campaign Ambassador for their Does HIV Look Like Me? campaign.
