After a week where the UK saw record-breaking temperature spikes, Aceil jets off to Corfu for some R&R (and some technical recording difficulties!) We are also joined by the founders of @TheYesList/https://the-yes-list.com, a feminist community that empowers women, engages new ideas and challenges the patriarchy. Sit back and enjoy Ellis & Aceil's 'melodic' voices in our first International pod!
After a week where Aceil went viral on Twitter, and Ellis finally went to the gym, our hosts reflect on the effect childcare costs are having on women who want to start a family, can we really have it all? We are then joined by the founders of @the.mixed.message, an empowering community for Black mixed raced people and discuss the success of their platform, the importance of representation and discourse around the issues of race (especially) within mixed race families, and how to build a brand on Instagram.
Ellis & Aceil are joined this week by Bolanle Tujadeen, an emerging curator and art advisor who founded Black Blossoms, a platform designed to increase the visibility of Black women and non-binary in the art world, her course 'Art in the Age of Black Girl Magic' examines notions of black feminist art and how identity shapes artistic practices. She joins the discussion to talk about imagery and representation in PR, and how important art is to communication.
We kick off the new series discussing our hosts starting their new jobs, and the terrors of imposter syndrome - how can you fight the niggling doubt? Ellis & Aceil are also joined by Miriam Hanna from MadlinHanna Consulting, to talk all things recruitment, and how PR professionals can make themselves stand out from the crowd during these difficult times.
With the world currently protesting racial injustices and police brutality, Ellis and Aceil discuss the Black Lives Matter and how they see the world healing itself in the aftermath of the protests.
They are also joined by Geoffrey Williams, former Global D&I Director for Thomson Reuters, to discuss how brands can authentically bring diversity and inclusion into the workforce and into their campaigns, and the conversation starters needed to make this a reality.
Join Ellis & Aceil as they discuss how mixed messaging in politics was the Labour Party's downfall, with guest @BrendanChilton, Labour councillor and Brexit campaign. This week's episode explores how political campaigns need to be more in touch with the people they seek to represent, and less bullish - are women the answer? (probably, yes).
Join Aceil & Ellis as they discuss how to look after your mental health while working in PR and the hidden struggles they faced while dealing with their own mental health.
Our hosts are also joined by @andrewrogers01 to discuss his career path, what he thinks PR will look like in the future, and how volunteering with Out in Tech has helped him to take back control of his own mental health.
As ever, get in touch @SquaredPR
This week, Ellis and Aceil are joined by @emelrizwani (social media marketer) to discuss how social media is more important than ever, who's doing it well, and her three commandments for making social work.
We also discuss the extended furlough scheme and how the governments COVID slogan is making the public feel (hint: we feel alert...)
Catch up with the hosts @SquaredPR
