There are several lessons to learn from the two verses. A few of them are:

1) Allah has taken a covenant with the people before us, always to reveal the truth stated in all His divine books, which He revealed to humanity.

2) The coming of Prophet Muhammad as the final messenger was revealed in the divine books. Prophet Muhammad came after Jesus (Peace be upon him).

3) Speaking the truth with wisdom is mandatory. There are divine injunctions to be abided by in doing that.

4) Claiming the credit for a good action that is not yours is a sign of show-off and hypocrisy. We can only share credit for our contributions, or at least acknowledge others' efforts.

5) Today in Northern Nigeria, we have failed to achieve significant development. We only claim the credits and the good works of Sardauna of Sokoto and the First Prime Minister of Northern Nigeria, while the region is sinking.
