2 Corinthians chapter 4 points us to a truth that will help us overcome the world.  Paul tells us that the same God who caused light to shine out of darkness shined in us.  What happened in creation is what happened to you if you are born again in Christ.  As he continues he talks about things seen and things unseen.  What might that have to do with overcoming the world.  Let's go to the word and find out.

What do we need to overcome the world.  In John 16:33, Jesus said he already had overcome the world and 1 John 5 lets us know that if we are born of God we can overcome the world as well.  The answer to what we need is found in the book of Genesis as we read about the creation and fall of man.  Join me as we look into the Word to find the answer to this question.

The church of Jesus Christ eventually overcame the Roman Empire to the degree that they went from a persecuted group of Jews to the only official religion of the Empire.  How?  I believe the teaching in Matthew 5:38-48 tells us how.  They lived a lifestyle that was revolutionary and one, that in the end, did overcome the world of their day.  If we decide to live this same lifestyle we will overcome all the world can send against us in our day as well. Let's see how he said we should live this out in our day.

Jesus said he overcome the world in John 16:33.  What is it about what he brought that overcame the World.  In less than one generation the church went from a minor Jewish sect to something turned the World upside down.  What was it that he preached and that he left with his disciples that did this.  I believe we find out in Matthew 5:38-48.  Lets take a look and see.

We tend to see the things the world brings into our lives as inevitable.  Sickness, fear, depression, lack and death are things we see as inevitable.  It is true many of these things do come to us, but we do not have to accept the outcome that the world tells us as inevitable.  Jesus overcame the world by not allowing the physical inevitabilities to rule him.  If we learn the spiritual inevitabilities in the Word of God and count them as more powerful and the determining factor of the outcome in our lives, we will be overcoming the world.
