• Don't get defensive about issues they bring up

• Apologize if they are upset about anything reasonable

• Don't apologize for things that shouldn't be apologized for

• Thank them for the impact they have made on your church

• Encourage them to quickly find a new church to connect to

• Grieve losses that are painful (

• Have a place to vent

• Remember: we are stewarding God's people, not our people
